CHILE BAILA is part of LATINOAMÉRICA BAILA. Danza para la movilidad, a project that aspires to become an emotional and creative bridge between Spain and Latin America. Dance, especially flamenco dance, is the paradigm we use to make possible a work of rapprochement of our creators and dance professionals of the two shores, diluting the distance through the word, dialogue and exchange.
Chile is an intercultural and plurinational country. Its cultural richness is multifaceted and can undoubtedly constitute a paradigm of knowledge of our open identity. Spain and Chile share the same cultural heritage and the same history of sensitivity. The greatness of this legacy lies in the fact that both have been nurtured and enriched over time by the singularities contributed by the new ideas and currents of thought that our environments have sculpted.
The history of Spain and Chile is marked by the beautiful phenomenon of mobility, very present in the flamenco aesthetic discourse. In our travels back and forth we have not stopped transferring to each other the best saps that our peoples have forged together. The CICLO CHILE BAILA is born, precisely, from the need to preserve this common attribute and pay homage to it through dance.
THE CHILE BAILA CYCLE, moderated by Carmen Gloria Larenas, general director of the Municipal Theater of Santiago de Chile, María Pagés president of the María Pagés Foundation and El Arbi El Harti general director of the María Pagés Choreographic Center, gathers the best features offered by the mobility that characterizes the continuous construction of our fraternal relationship. Through it, and raising dance to the value of a vector of knowledge and exchange, we want to bring the art of Chilean and Spanish dance closer to our two communities, claiming the involvement of the Spanish and Chilean communities.
The Cycle is composed of 4 virtual meetings and 1 face-to-face meeting. Its objective is to bring together notable personalities from the world of culture and dance of the two countries. The events will be broadcast on the YouTube channels of the CCMP and the Teatro Municipal de Santiago, as well as their networks.
