The Spanish National Cancer Research Center (CNIO), in addition to its goal of uniting the efforts of hundreds of researchers to generate excellence in cancer research, also has a Women in Science Office, whose main objective since its inception has been to give visibility to women leaders in their fields to serve as role models and inspiration to future generations of scientists, both men and women.
The CNIO Women in Science Office (WISE) was created at the end of 2012 to contribute to achieving and ensuring gender equality in science, promoting awareness of these fundamental aspects and helping to correct the imbalances observed in the CNIO community in research careers. Among its activities, the CNIO Women in Science Office organizes conferences that help to understand the consequences of inequality and gender bias in many fields, not only by prestigious women scientists but also by philosophers, sportswomen, journalists, filmmakers, politicians or businesswomen.
Within this framework, María Pagés has been invited to participate in the online seminar “Dancing needs some talent and a lot of work”.
