“Choreographic encounters, a collective voice and a will for continuity“.

As women creators and leaders in the cultural industries, we are called upon to defend our creative and professional interests. Together we can better meet the challenges. We are a community with great potential, but we lack group consciousness. This is where we see our detachment and our fragility. In the face of any claim, even in the face of any demand for social and institutional recognition, our individualism and dispersion reinforce our weakness and diminish our chances of achieving a minimum of dignity, which is what it is all about.

For this reason, the María Pagés Choreographic Center inaugurated its activities in 2019 with actions that aimed to promote twinning in dance. It was necessary to promote a space where we can meet, see each other, exchange opinions, feel our concerns and think together. Thus arose the International Choreographic Meetings of Fuenlabrada, whose objective was to promote dialogue between the creators, giving value and visibility to the female choreographic reflection.

The first meeting in 2019, followed by another, marked by the pandemic, in 2020, made it possible for them to nurture the beautiful and potent power of their essence and uniqueness as women and creators. They understood that they were much more related than they could imagine and their complicity could make them closer, stronger and more confident.

To give continuity to the spirit of the Fuenlabrada Group, constituted in 2019, we proceed to organize the III International Choreographic Meetings of Fuenlabrada. Pandemic to the core, these will be more necessary than ever.
