Dance professionals agree that their art does not enjoy the attention of programmers. On the other hand, they recognize this deficit, despite the personal inclination of many towards this artistic expression.
Generally, it is noticed that the problem is structural and comes from the demand of an audience that apparently seeks other scenic languages to the detriment of dance.
To this question, which is probably traversed by subjective keys, we should surely add the endemic lack of an organic cultural project in which national institutions, municipalities, communities, supported by an integrating programmatic and budgetary vision, should play a fundamental role.
Dance, in short, lacks stable programming and at the same time is subject to insufficient temporality, such as short periods of exhibition, contests and festivals. Opera, zarzuela, theater and circus have publicly owned venues. However, dance does not have within its reach specialized scenarios in which to be exhibited and, when it manages to do so, many of these spaces are not suitable for it.
In this meeting we try to outline the situation of dance, looking for solutions together, through the active intervention of programmers, creators and distributors.
