The Whale Project aims to be a space for the integral reception of young creators residing in our center.  It is designed to offer them creative, choreographic, technical and administrative support.

Dominique You, whom we consider fundamental in the contemporary history of lighting for dance in Spain, offers the four companies that make up the Whale Project a workshop on lighting, with special emphasis on the creative question of light in the construction of dance performances.

Indeed, the action of lighting is a creative activity that analyzes, interprets and translates choreographic and dramaturgical ideas and concepts through a poetics of light and movement. It is the result of a dialogue and a constant and richly nuanced interaction between what the director conceives and imagines and the ability of the illuminator to realize it and make it possible. Choreographers and lighting designers make the light look for the settings, the contexts and the sensations to be transmitted, placing at each moment the effect or the color needed to achieve it.

It is, in short, the symbiosis of two creative intelligences in search of the same rhythmic idyll.
