In this meeting we try to outline the situation of dance, looking for solutions together, through the active intervention of programmers, creators and distributors.
Dance professionals agree that their art does not attract the attention of programmers. On the other hand, the latter recognize this deficit, despite the personal inclination of many towards this artistic expression.
Generally, it is noted that the problem is structural and comes from the demand of an audience that apparently seeks other scenic languages to the detriment of dance.
To this question that probably is crossed by subjective keys, surely it would be necessary to add the endemic lack of an organic cultural project where the national institutions, municipalities, communities, supported by an integrating programmatic and budgetary vision, must play a fundamental role.
Dance, in short, lacks a stable programming and at the same time is subject to an insufficient temporality, such as short periods of exhibition, competitions and festivals. Opera, zarzuela, theater and circus have publicly owned venues. However, dance does not have within its reach specialized scenarios in which to exhibit and, when it manages to do so, many of these spaces are not suitable for it.
