The Whale Project welcomes 4 companies. Using the facilities offered by the Center and its participatory and inclusive philosophy, it is conceived so that the relationships that are established in it are transformed into a network of national and international exchange, capable of being catalysts for the promotion and distribution of the contents of the residencies.
The experience of any dance professional shows that professional artists do not have spaces to rehearse and create. In the Community of Madrid the only spaces that cover in a dignified manner this vital need of the creators host projects of already established choreographers. The rest of the artists remain in no man’s land and resolve this precariousness any way they can. Undoubtedly, the most affected by this difficulty are the emerging artists.
Precisely, the CCMP is marked by this deep structural disorder. Its vocation is to alleviate it. In this sense, the CCMP not only provides spaces for residents. It adds to this various additional contents whose objective is to provide the artists with tools for a greater professionalization, through a mentoring program led by professionals with proven artistic and human legitimacy.
It is precisely for this reason that we have selected companies whose members come from different autonomous communities and European countries and, in addition, are very experienced in the use of new technologies.
The networking, supported by the network that the CCMP has woven at national and international level for over 31 years, aims to promote the strengthening of the sector and, undoubtedly, to facilitate greater internationalization. Another fundamental element that defines the project is the conviviality that the center provides to the residents, the meeting and exchange of different choreographic languages, enhancing training and favoring links and cooperativity between artists from different territories.
In addition to the usual provision of the center’s facilities, the project includes an innovative training support model aimed at providing artists with the necessary tools to consolidate their artistic and business training for an optimal integration in the cultural industries space.
