The work of the Centro Coreográfico María Pagés emanates from the long creative history of a choreographer. From her experience, as a craftswoman of art, we have extracted some fundamental certainties that we implement with a paradigm of action and reflection on the scenic phenomenon. One of these truths, probably hidden by society because it has not yet made an effort to understand the performing arts as a whole, is that dance is a creation of creators and a profession of professions.

The reality clearly argues what we defend. The staging of a dance show requires the creative intervention and technical expertise of many professions and various goldsmiths of many creative languages. The scenography, or the visual book in the words of Bob Wilson, is one of the essential paradigms of the art of creating dance performances. Through it the place, atmosphere, climate and rhythm are created whose purpose is to allow the aesthetic and scenic development of the action and the dramaturgical story of a work.

Elogio al espacio escénico is a meeting that unites on the same stage, which is the space of the CCMP, creators of dance and scenography, linked by professional and artistic passion for scenic creation. All participants know, respect and admire each other from within the creative process. In other words, they have experienced the creative intimacy of the creative process.

They will discuss the conditioning factors of choreographic language and its adaptation to the stage space, the ways of inhabiting the stage through movement, the relationship of the performers with objects and the stage, exploring codes ranging from realism to abstraction.  They will also think about the question of rhythm and movement in relation to music and dramatic tension, dance materials, their colors, natures and forms, light, plasticity and the creation of images and costumes.

In Elogio al espacio escénico, Paula Quintana, Mónica Runde, Elisa Sanz, Carl Fillion, Eduardo Moreno and María Pagés, in short, explore dance for what it is: an organic performing art.
